China's rapid development of the capacitor industry
2008-07-30

China's rapid development of the capacitor industry           With the electronic information industry development and the popularity of home appliances from the 1980s the domestic color television sets, refrigerators, washing machines, mobile phones, black and white television sets, household air-conditioners, telephones, energy-saving lamps, VCD, DVD, computer, The development of program-controlled switches, making China the capacitor industry has been an unprecedented development.           Capacitor is an electric circuit element which used to store charge temporarily, consisting in general of two metallic plates separated and insulated from each other by a dielectric. Capacitor also be called condenser.           The capacitor's function is to store electricity or electrical energy and the capacitor also functions as a filter, passing alternating current (AC), and blocking direct current (DC).           There are three major types of capacitors which are ceramic, electrolytic, and tantalum.        Ceramic capacitors are small in size and value, ranging from a few Pico Farads to 1 µF. Not polarized, so either end can go to ground. Value is given by a mystical code somewhat like that of resistors.

Electrolytic capacitors look like small cylinders and range in value from 1 µF to several Farads. Very inaccurate and change in value as the electrolytic ages. Polarized, cathode must go to ground. Cathode is marked with a minus sign on case. Value is usually written on case.

Tantalum capacitors are similar in size to ceramic but can hold more charge, up to several hundred µF. Accurate and stable, but relatively expensive. Usually polarized, anode is marked with a plus sign.

In the international capacitor market, China, considered to be one of the Asian dark horses, has made an astounding progress in the capacitor industry. The technological, economical, and social policies adopted by the Chinese government have provided a tremendous boost and encouragement to the Chinese manufacturers and entrepreneurs.            Why saying so? It could be analysis in the following aspects. (1)、The industry’s perspective          China has the capacity and technical know-how to produce capacitors of all types. Varieties of capacitor manufactured range from the most advanced surface-mount ceramic chip capacitors, high-voltage capacitor banks to the basic components. Capacitor unit sizes range from universal-scale, highly automated, high-volume (mass production) plants down to small garage operations of the small-scale entrepreneurs. The technology and size of the manufacturing machinery deployed in these plants ranged from state-of-the-art high-volume version operating in clean-room environments down to the simple manual machines functioning in unprotected environments. (2)、Domestic capacitor market         A large and growing demand for capacitors exists from all sectors in China. This offers a unique advantage in the setting up of modern large-scale plants. These plants can obtain their basic loads from the domestic market. Rest of the production is exported on marginal-cost basis. This aspect enables Chinese capacitors to be price-competitive in the export market and the valuable foreign exchange earner. (3)、Quality aspects        Quality levels of Chinese capacitor vary from excellent to poor. It is generally claimed that large manufacturers (particularly the joint venture ones) produce international-quality products, while the smaller units produce according to the quality needs and demands of domestic consumers. Because of this, Chinese capacitor products can meet all sorts of buyers’ demand. (4)、Cost factors        Raw material costs are generally lower than in other countries for comparable quality; Wages for employees are lower; because Most buildings are state-owned or owned by a government-owned company, so Rents or accommodation costs are lower too. (5)、application Field        As the capacitor application Field constantly expanding, Capacitor industry in the period 2008 -2010 there is more room for development.          The future of capacitor industry of china is as unlimited as your imagination, the next few years China will maintain rapid growth, Thus boosting the international capacitor industry's rapid development.
