The common mode inductance, also called the common mode choke, is a coil with symmetrical turns and opposite turns on a closed magnetic ring. The ideal common mode choke has an inhibitory effect on the common mode interference between the L (or N) and the E, while there is no inductance suppression between the L and the N in the presence of differential mode interference. But the incomplete winding of the actual coil will lead to the generation of differential mode leakage inductance. When the signal current or the supply current flows in the two windings in opposite directions, the magnetic flux produced is offset against each other, and the choke presents a low impedance. The common mode noise current (including the current loop caused by disturbance, also called longitudinal current) through the two winding when the same direction, the magnetic flux to the same sum, choke present high impedance, which plays the role of common mode noise suppression.
