Rigid Areas on Flexible Circuits
To support a number of relatively heavy components or to play a role of connector part,it is
necessary for the flexible circuit to reinforce such an area. This is achieved by bonding a rigid
material to that area. The rigid material in technical is called stiffener. It can be a layer of thicker
polyimide, or it can be an epoxy glass laminate, sometimes stainless steel is used too.
